Where in your life are you trying to grin and bear it or push your way through? Where in your life have you received a shock that is changing what you thought you knew? It is not easy to be honest with ourselves in these moments. It’s not easy to open our eyes or to put down the defensive weapons we are holding. But the true warrior faces the unknown with vulnerability and courage. The true warrior draws strength not from closing themselves in or tightening their walls but rather from recognizing that the source of power, while internal, is transpersonal and deeply interwoven with all of life.

Facing the unknown asks for creativity and innovation... both of which require new ways of seeing and responsiveness. Neither of which can happen when walls are drawn tighter, eyes are closed or vision is narrowed, and defenses are up. The key to thriving in this world where there is often chaos and disruptions and wildness is to focus our strength and vision less on survival and more on resiliency- the capacity to hold paradox, the equal truth of apparent opposites, within us.
