There is a great (playful) mystery at work in the Universe- designed to operate on behalf of our souls’ healing. And it is only accessible when we get comfortable living as questions. Here, pointing downward and closed-off, the fortune casting cup, the thin veil between worlds, the cosmic birthing of possibility that is Perthro signals that, perhaps, we have been trying to live too much from answers, rather than as questions. Take a moment- notice if there’s a difference in how your body feels looking around your space as if you know everything about it already and then as if you know nothing. What happens to your breath? What kinds of thoughts appear in your mind? Where is there openness, curiosity, fear/excitement ? What about impatience, judgements, boredom, a closing?

Ansuz, reminds us that we are not alone- we are connected with nature, with our ancestors, with the cosmic life force and in each moment these are trying to communicate with us but they often communicate quietly, in symbols and in mysteries. If we are living as answers, we cannot receive the full beauty and potential for healing that exists in each moment, designed specifically for our precious unfolding. Our Equine wisdom reminds us that practices of presence, mindfulness, and discernment are the gateway and the gatekeeper. That first we must get clear to be able to hear, and then we must listen with our hearts and our resilient bodies to be able to discern the right way forward. As uncomfortable as it may be - we are here to *not* know and to move forward anyway. That is the greatest mystery of all: trusting your own, perfect unfolding.

Runes: (L) Perthro (here opening down rather than to the right- the rune of initiation, spiritual birth, all that is mysterious and unknowable); (R) Ansuz (the rune of signposts and cosmic communication, of breath, of collective and ancestral intelligence).
